The Compassionalist Academy™ was founded to be a necessary building block to solve two problems:
- The urgent need to balance the ecosystem of available private money for qualified startups launching and growing small businesses seeking capital
- Provide a proven wealth creation strategy that will enable all Americans to put their discretionary income, underperforming investments, and excess savings to work generating a profit backing hardworking entrepreneurs as they grow their businesses
Visionary Karen Rands, through her own journey—first in corporate innovation, then as the managing director of an angel investor group, and now as a mentor and advocate—came to recognize the dire need for more educated, engaged investors to learn to invest confidently and competently in entrepreneurs across the spectrum: innovative startups to growing main street businesses.
So, it was no surprise to Karen when the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) and The U.S. Treasury identified three primary reasons why angel investors remain scarce from the research they commissioned in 2024:
- Many people simply don’t know they can invest in entrepreneurs before companies go public or are acquired.
- There is little practical education to help new investors evaluate opportunities with confidence.
- Tools and resources that exist for other asset classes—stocks, real estate, crypto—are still lacking for private company investing.
